Ceramics 1: UnConstructed Cube

Students’ will:

ART.VA.1.HS.1  Apply acquired knowledge and skill to the creative problem solving process

1.  The goal today is to start thinking about which EDGES you will be cutting off and how you will reattached them.  Remember to be complete the “cube” must be:

Structurally Sound   10pts  —-   Self Standing 10pts   —-  Have 3 pieces cut from the edges and reattached 10pts  —-  Give the illusion as it is a solid piece of clay 10 pts

ART.VA.1.HS.5 Resposnibly and safely manage materials and tools.

2.  Take a look at this BuckeyBalls.com, if you’re having a problem figuring out exactly how or what to do for your next move, this might jump-start the creative process.  The whole point to this assignment was to start with a basic geometric form and convert it into a totally new form using the clay from the cube as a start.

Painting 1: Heroes in Distress Postcard

Students’ will:

ART.VA.1.HS.5 Resposnibly and safely manage materials and tools.

1.  Yesterday we laid down background and highlights.  Today we focus on SHADOWS and how a using a different brushes is necessary when painting details.

ART.VA.1.HS.1  Apply acquired knowledge and skill to the creative problem solving process.

2.  Continue using the same techniques that we talked about yesterday.  The demonstration will show how with a little water and a thin brush, the painter can start to collect details.
