Make sure you are aware of how next week will work!!!

Make sure to also take some time to get the online quiz filled out (you have less than 24 hrs.).  You will receive an email shortly after taking the quiz.  The quiz will only be online for 48 hrs. so be sure to make good use of your time.

Intro to Art:  Surrealism Challenge

  1. CREATE a plan for which you will follow specific steps in building a work of art, by completing an ACTION PLAN.
  2. Be able to orally defend and explain your choices by responding to PROJECT REQUIREMENTS.

You guys may want to start think about the time you have left for this challenge.  If you haven’t started with the final version, time is running out.  Remember the REQUIREMENTS, this gets away from people as they start trying to rush things and forget very simple items that can affect the final grade.

Painting 2: Non-Objective Art Challenge

  1. IDENTIFY the specific steps needed to create a NON-OBJECTIVE painting, by using practiced techniques to communicate an emotion/idea.
  2. Be able to orally defend and explain your choices by responding to PROJECT REQUIREMENTS.

We are gonna get right into our paintings that we started before winter wrecked havoc on our schedule.  Be sure to use the “Help Folder” for any additional information that you might need.

Adv. Drawing: Structure (Making Things Look 3-D)

  1. DEMONSTRATE your comprehension skills by practicing STRUCTURE in a gesture drawing, within a  series of timed drawings.
  2. IDENTIFY characteristics of a gesture drawing by locating and describing where they are in their drawings.

I’m obviously not here in the room today…

I want you guys to take a few minutes in today’s class to warm-up, but instead of using POSES…I’d like you to use FORMS…More importantly, the SPHERE, CYLINDER, and CUBE.  Be sure to take a glance at some of the information I handed out to you guys yesterday about STRUCTURE.

The direction that we are heading in is to take a POSE and start to break it down into basic FORMS, quickly.  Even though this should be something that is quick, we will talk more next week about some tricks we can use to recognize these shapes a little easier.  You may also want to start creating an ANSWER KEY from tracing paper for this week’s pose packet. Just make sure that instead of gesture lines, you are using the SPHERE, CYLINDER, and CUBE for your tracings.
