Goals for the Day: Fri. Feb. 27

Ceramics 2: Royal Flush Challenge

“Welcome to Face-Off”
  1. CREATE a plan for which you will follow specific steps in building a work of art, by completing an ACTION PLAN.
  2. Be able to orally defend and explain their choices by responding to PROJECT REQUIREMENTS.

Our first firing day today!!!

Remember as the rest of you move through the production, you will receive 2 scores for this project.  A CONSTRUCTION score and a GLAZE or FINISHING score.  This is different from last semester.  The main point here is, even though you have some freedom in the direction your project takes, don’t compromise CRAFTSMANSHIP or your FINAL IDEA just to get something done.  One of the best lines from the Face-Off series is from  Ve Neill,

“You can take a bad sculpt and make it good by focusing on the paint job.”

Remember our schedule for next weeks firings as well as you work throughout the hour.

Intro to Art: Sketchbook #4-#5  G’Day Matey!

  1. DEMONSTRATE your understanding for the procedures of the weekly sketchbook by completing a themed/timed sketch.
  2. SUMMARIZE your opinions of their themed sketch by writing a 4-step critique

This week’s sketch is kinda important because we have had a week break from focusing on them.  To help you guys out with any type of Creative Block you might have, you can approach this one as a “VS” style sketch if you wish.  Think about what these two themes might look like if they were some how mixed together.

Painting: Sketchbook #2 “I am GROOT!”

Our second sketch/watercolor painting has some specifics, so be sure before you wrap up what you are working on you have a good understanding for what the theme really involves
