Goals for the Day: Wed. April 29

Ceramics 2: Super Selfies Challenge

  1. CREATE a plan for which you will follow specific steps in building a work of art, by completing an ACTION PLAN.
  2. Be able to orally defend and explain your opinions by responding to PROJECT REQUIREMENTS.

Back at it!!! Our last firing for this project and we are a few days away from the deadline.  Some of you will be disappointed to see your projects are not in the kiln being fired.  It’s a bit frustrating, but this is not due to the quality of work, but the fact that you have not put your initials in it to make it easy to identify once it comes out.

  • May 1: Super Selfies Deadline: images will be posted with specific hashtag

Due to this outcome, today’s class is going to be different for everyone involved.  Think about what you will need to complete in the next few days to be able to maximize the total amount of credit you deserve on this challenge/project.

Intro to Art: Stencil Challenge

  1. DEMONSTRATE your understanding for computerized effects by properly following a teacher demonstration in creating multi-layered stencils.
  2. Be able to orally defend and explain their choices by responding to the PROJECT REQUIREMENTS

A few days left working on this one.  Be sure you are keeping up with your goal sheets and are able to back up/prove your understanding of the project requirements.

Painting 2: Illustration Challenge

  1. CREATE a plan for which you will follow specific steps in building a work of art, by completing an ACTION PLAN.
  2. Be able to orally defend and explain your opinions by responding to PROJECT REQUIREMENTS.

Today is our last studio working day before our class critique.  Remember that every one of you are responsible for “bringing something to the table” tomorrow in regards to progress on your project.  The critique is considered “participation” and can be easily looked at as an easy assignment, but the purpose here is to be able to back up your decisions as well as gain some insight as to what improvements may need to be made.

  • April 27-29: Studio Work Time: DO NOT GET THIS CONFUSED FREE TIME
  • April 30: Class Open Critique – Figure out what you’re doing “right” and what you’re doing “wrong”
  • May 1: Sketchbook/Painting Book day (AGAIN NOT A FREE DAY)
  • May 4-5: Studio Work Days and Deadline (artist statement needs to be in by the end of the hour)

Adv. Drawing: Final Portfolio and Laying Out the Face

  1. Review concepts that you may already know on how to draw a face and lay out the details.
  2. Discuss what each one

Yesterday I had you guys doing a little “research” on the fundamentals for laying out a face.  I’d like to take a few moments in class to review what you have and talk about any prior knowledge you have when it comes to drawing the face.

We will spend some time catching up on some “notes,” however I really would like to spend the final half of class talking to you about the proper choice for selecting poses/images/models to use for your portfolio.
