Goals for the Day: Fri. Nov. 6 #MoArtStache

Intro to Art: Sketchbook Challenge

One of the best ‘staches in the world
  1. Create artwork using materials and techniques with skill so that personal intentions and basic understanding of the themed/timed sketch is complete
  2. Write arguments to support claims that your intentions HAVE been carried out using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence.

Whew!!!  That’s a mouth full.  Today we embark on an interesting topic for the month of Novemeber in our sketchbooks.  The month of MOVEMBER.  You can check out more information on exactly what MOVEMBER is and means here at their official website.  Through out this month, our themes will be based off of characters or people who made the mustache famous.

Painting 1: Random Word Sketchbook Challenge

  1. Create artwork using materials and techniques with skill so that personal intentions and basic understanding of the themed/timed sketch is complete
  2. Write arguments to support claims that your intentions HAVE been carried out using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence.

We’ve gotten away from our weekly sketch/paint over the past few weeks, or at least it seems that way. I want to make sure before we start that there is a good understanding for what it is that you will be creating and trying to visually solve over the next two (2) Fridays.

  1. Follow this link to the RANDOM WORD GENERATOR site
  2. Change the number of words to “3”
  3. Click GENERATE RANDOM WORDS
  4. Now paint!!!

The goal here is to get away from needing to constantly ask “Can I draw/paint…”  The only wrong answer here is no answer.  Allow your imagination to freely go wherever these three words take you.  We will be working on this for the next two Fridays in class, however feel free to work on this whenever you want on your own.

Ceramics 1: Creating 3-D Forms

What does this image have in common with…
…this image?
  1. Shape an artistic investigation of an aspect of present-day life using a contemporary practice of art or design.
  2. Reflection / Evaluation: What is was your CONCENTRATION about? SHARE YOUR IDEAS with your neighbor and MAKE A NOTE on your DAILY GOAL SHEET.

I love this day the most out of all the days of that we spend together.

Before I give you this CUBE QUIZ, I want to warn you that what you are about to take part in class is not meant to make you feel dumb or stupid because you have difficulty finishing it.  The goal for today’s exercise is to approach our next project with a new mindset of skills and concepts, both in construction and importance/meaning.

We will go over the answers in class, but please understand that whatever you finish today should serve as a reminder of where you started, not were you will end!  Good Luck
