What does it mean to be DETERMINED?
We are going to wrap up this first week of the new semester today by discussing one of the most misunderstood parts to my courses: The SKETCHBOOK / ACTION PLAN
I’d like you take a few minutes to watch the video below, by Adam Westbrook:
“Westbrook looks at the struggles of Van Gogh. We know his work instantly, but what most people don’t know is how much work he put into his painting before he broke out as one of the greatest painters of all time.”
“This is compared against the ease to which people can enter the arts world now, thanks to the internet. It’s comparatively easy to create something from an idea, but it’s harder to get some traction and a wide audience. The lesson here? Sometimes, persistence is essential.”
Ceramics 2: What is an ACTION PLAN
Ok…So it took me some time to realize today, but it finally dawned on me that you are not necessarily required to have a sketchbook for this course.
I’d like you to reflect on the question today: Am I a Do’er, or a Planner?
We will take some time out of class today to discuss the proper procedure for creating an ACTION PLAN. While this should be looked at as a “working document” there are some specific things that need to be reviewed to be sure you are as successful as possible.
